Our Process

How do we create our custom tea collections?

A new collection can either be inspired by trying a new tea or flavor combination, or by (re)reading (or watching, or playing...) an intriguing story.

From there, we distill the tea/flavor or the story down to its most prominent, recognizable parts. In a tea or flavor, these could be prominent flavors or aromas, colors, or interesting aspects of the tea's history or lore. In a story, these could be characters, places, moods, or events and plotlines.

We typically end up with two or three words that encapsulate each of these main parts. We then go through a somewhat alchemical process of matching the teas/flavors to the elements of a story. It's a little bit science, a little bit art, but mostly just really really fun.

After that come the taste tests, refinements, re-readings, re-watchings, re-playings, in a loop until we are satisfied we have the best possible match between the tea and the story.
